The residents of Souni–Zanatzia have decided to establish an official volunteer fire brigade. This step comes after recent wildfires, when it became clear that in moments of danger we can rely only on ourselves.
Official status will give our brigade several important advantages: we will be able to undergo professional training, receive insurance, and obtain the necessary documents. This will allow us to act more effectively and will also protect volunteers from situations where police previously tried to prevent locals from defending their own homes.
The community has responded with great enthusiasm — more than 50 applications have already been submitted to join the brigade. This demonstrates the strong determination of our village.
We know that fires may come again. But next time, Souni–Zanatzia will be ready to face them fully armed!
